The management of the UOC Laboratory of Medical Genetics establish a QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, in compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, of the EFI Accreditation, of the Quality Standard in Laboratory Medicine which follows the points of the ISO 15189 standard, and the Guidelines of the Italian Society of Human Genetics (S.I.G.U.), in order to guarantee users an ever higher level of quality, competence, effectiveness and professionalism in the provision of services, with a view to continuous improvement.
The guarantee of a service carried out according to the principle of Quality is ensured by certification of conformity by an accredited third part which annually checks the required requirements.

The Mission that characterizes the activity of the Medical Genetics Laboratory UOC:
Diagnosis and counseling of genetic diseases in order to allow correct approaches for prevention, for the management of affected patients and, if possible, provide therapeutic indications.
Immunogenetic typing of patients awaiting bone marrow transplant and related donors.
Support to legal / medico-legal structures for forensic genetics investigations.
Scientific research of genetic diseases in order to contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying rare diseases.
Scientific research of family neoplastic diseases in order to contribute to the identification of the genes responsible for specific and / or non-specific neoplastic susceptibility.

The Management of the UOC annually defines and shares with the staff the SPECIFIC QUALITY OBJECTIVES which may concern the PERFORMANCES OFFERED, ORGANIZATIONAL ASPECTS or the MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AS A WHOLE, in accordance with the directives and the budget defined by the General Management.
The evaluation of the objectives, periodic and annual, aims to favor the achievement of the same objectives, aimed at CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF THE SYSTEM AND AN INCREASINGLY EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE RESPONSE TO THE EXPECTATIONS OF USERS ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLE OF "TAKING CARE OF THE PATIENT".
